My Semester Experiences and Wrap Up

As I debate on whether to continue keeping up with this blog, I have often looked back at previous posts and tried to decide on what I could have been doing better. Being able to write about my absolute music favorites and albums that bring me to different parts of my life has definitely been a wonderful experience. I was able to look deep within some of my favorite albums and find the real reasons on why I continue to press repeat.

Even though I do consider myself to have a very large music taste, I hope to improve and further my musical taste, maybe even write over music I have yet to ever listen to. I also did fairly well with posting on a schedule, but towards the end I found myself posting at odd hours, which probably did not help my content. Even though I may have posted at odd times, I always made sure to promote my content at times that would probably reach the most people. I believe I could have posted on more than just twitter. I find that I get a lot of interaction on my Instagram, and that would have been a great place to promote my content.

This experience has definitely benefited me and my writing. Being someone who started their journey in media with writing and journalism, it has been great to get back to it. I believe creating content has improved my writing skills and I will use what I have learned in this project in my future endeavors. I will use the things I’ve learned in my future jobs and be able to have an example of some of my writing.

Statistics

The most popular week on my site was the second week of February, and that week, I received 90 views and 34 visitors. This happened to be the week I posted my most viewed post (besides my introduction post) “The First Addition: Foo Fighters.”

My introduction post was my most viewed post, receiving around 60 views over the semester. I believe this was the most popular because when promoted, it got a few likes a retweets, leading to more people clicking the link.

Overall

Overall this project taught me a lot and I very grateful for the things I’ve learned in the process. Being able to write about my favorite music has made this project extremely enjoyable, and less of a project, but more of a fun activity. I’ve had to debate on whether I will continue to post after the semester ends, but I guess we’ll see in my next post.
